UPDATE: On Tuesday, April 2, the Texas House Business & Industry Committee will hold a public hearing on HB 850, a dangerous #BanTheBible bill that would create special protected classes based on "sexual orientation and gender identity/expression" in the Texas Labor Code. This bill would threaten the religious freedom of businesses across Texas. We need grassroots Texans - especially business owners, pastors, church employees, leaders of faith-based nonprofits, and any Texan that cares about faith and religious freedom - to come testify against this #BanTheBible bill! If you can’t testify, continue to contact you legislator by taking action below.
What: House Business & Industry Committee
When: Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 10:30 AM or upon final adjournment/recess
Where: Committee room E2.016 in the Texas Capitol
With the Texas Legislative Session underway, left-wing attacks on our values are already gathering strength at the Texas Capitol.
Leftist legislators have formed Texas’ first “LGBTQ Caucus” promising a “transformative” and “strategic” agenda. This includes proposed “sexual orientation and gender identity” laws (SOGI) that would attack people of faith so viciously, we can justifiably describe them as #BanTheBible bills.
#BanTheBible doesn’t have to mean confiscating physical Bibles yet, but it does mean something even worse––stripping Texans’ right to practice biblical teachings out of their lives.
Hiding under the disguise of “sexual orientation and gender identity” (SOGI) language, these bills would create new government power to ban free expression of biblical beliefs, especially it’s teaching on marriage and sexuality. Texans who do not comply would face fines, possible jail time, and other criminal charges. Concerning #BanTheBible bills already filed include (read more details here):
