The Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act will protect faith-based adoption agencies across the nation, including Texas, at the federal level. At the state level, the Freedom to Serve Children Act was signed into law by Gov. Abbott last year, protecting faith-based adoption agencies in state law. But Texas faith-based child welfare providers are still at risk of being punished by the federal government because of their religious beliefs, including that marriage is between a man and a woman.
Thousands of Texans need to turn up the heat on their members of Congress in order for this bill to be signed by President Trump. Will you speak up for the kids today?
Please contact your members of Congress and request their help in moving this bill to a vote in each chamber. Ask for each Senator’s support in pushing S.811 (Senate version), or your Representative’s support in pushing H.R. 1881 (House version). Here is what you need to know about the issue:
Without the bill, Texas faith-based adoption agencies can still be punished by the federal government.
With the current CPS crisis in Texas, we can’t afford to risk losing agencies that provide much-needed child welfare services.
The Freedom to Serve Children Act, which was signed by Gov. Abbott last year, protects faith-based adoption agencies at the state level, but they still need protection at the federal level.
We need all available agencies to assist with placing vulnerable children in stable homes.
Freedom of religion belongs to everyone, including faith-based child welfare agencies.
Faith-based entities reduce the cost and scope of government by allowing the private sector to provide crucial services to the public.
UPDATE: Your calls to Congress to protect faith-based child welfare providers made a difference!
